China export standards for Refrigerator / cold appliance

Refrigerators and cold appliances are subject to a combination of electrical safety standards, mandatory minimum energy performance requirements, refrigerant regulations, and energy labelling obligations across export markets. In the European Union, the Ecodesign Regulation sets mandatory energy class thresholds and requires a product database registration (EPREL); the US Department of Energy enforces efficiency standards under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act; and other markets apply their own MEPS and star-rating label systems. Refrigerant choice is constrained by phase-down schedules under the Kigali Amendment and regional F-gas frameworks. Noise, food preservation performance, and volume claims may also require test evidence. The pages below compare the applicable MEPS, labelling rules, and regulatory registrations for each market covered.
