China export standards for LED luminaire

LED luminaires—including downlights, panel lights, street lights, and commercial fixtures—are one of the highest-volume export categories from China. Despite their apparent simplicity, LED luminaires face a layered compliance picture: photobiological safety (IEC 62471 blue-light hazard classification), electrical safety (IEC 60598), EMC, energy efficiency labelling, and in some markets mandatory minimum efficacy regulations all apply simultaneously. The transition from compact fluorescent to LED has prompted regulators worldwide to update their frameworks, creating a moving target for exporters. Colour rendering index, flicker, dimmer compatibility, and IP-rating claims all carry documentation obligations. The pages below compare the full certification and labelling requirements for each market covered.
